    ### Scope

This article outlines how to update the Caller ID number for a user. Caller ID Name (CNAM) is controlled by the receiving carrier. To set CNAM contact the Telco Services department.

    Requirements

Office Manager Access to Manager Portal or higher

    Notice

    • Caller ID Name in the portal is used both for on-net (internal) and off-net (external) calls.
    • It is typically referenced by the receiving carrier when a CNAM database entry is not available.
    • Some regions or countries (e.g., Canada) may not support CNAM databases, in which case the Caller ID Name field from your portal will be displayed instead.
      • CNAM is a lookup service used by receiving carriers to cross-reference phone numbers with associated names. Caller ID, by contrast, refers to the phone number itself and is transmitted globally with the call. To set CNAM, contact the Telco Services department
