Polycom VVX: How to Perform a Remote Packet Capture

This doc will show you how to capture packets a Polycom VVX phone is sending and receiving in order to troubleshoot potential network issues with the phone.
Requirements:

Polycom VVX Firmware 5.1.1 or later

Wireshark
-
Overrides
-
The Phone's MAC Address and IP Address
**Apply the PCAP Overrides to the Phone**
- Please follow this KB on how to add custom overrides: https://voipdocs.io/en/articles/234-add-custom-overrides
- The overrides are:
diags.pcap.enabled="1"
diags.pcap.remote.enabled="1"
Performing the Packet Capture
- Open Wireshark and select Capture > Manage Interfaces

- Select the Remote Interfaces tab and press the + button in the bottom left corner of the window.

- Enter the following information in the Remote Interface window that pops up:
Host: (The IP Address of the phone)
Port: 2002
Username: Polycom
Password: (The MAC Address of the phone)
- Click OK
- You will now be able to select the phone as a Capture Interface in Wireshark. This will capture any traffic going in and out of the phone.
