Create an Emergency Address

Scope

Intended Audience: All Users

This article outlines how to create an emergency address in the manager portal for Enhanced 911 & Dynamic Location Routing.

Requirements

  • Super User or Reseller Access to Manager Portal

Troubleshooting

Warning: Currently [4/18], SIP trunks do not support emergency addresses. Please configure legacy E911 for domains and DIDs using SIP trunks: Register E911 from Manager Portal

Add an Emergency Address to an Existing Domain

  1. Log in to the Manager Portal
  2. Navigate to Domains
  3. Click Edit for the domain you wish modify
  4. Navigate to the Emergency tab
  5. Select Add a new address on the Emergency Address field
  6. Set the Emergency Caller ID to the corresponding DID for that location (this will be used for Callback) NOTE: Please ensure that the emergency number is in 11 digit format to correspond with the portal/domain.
  7. Complete the fields for the client's service address
  8. Enter a Caller Name followed by the client's service address NOTE: Do not enter any special characters such as &, @, or ! in this field or the validation will fail
  9. Address - The full address of clients physical location. NOTE: If after entering the address and validating, the map does not show the correct location, change any short hand markers to their full length equivalent. Example S would be entered in as South, St would be entered as Street.
  10. For Location, enter a descriptive location with the address for where the client is located (this can be changed per user)
  11. Click Validate
  12. Once the validation is confirmed, click Save

Add Emergency Address to a Site

  1. Log in to the Manager Portal
  2. Select the domain you wish to add a site for
  3. Navigate to Users
  4. Select the Sites tab
  5. Click Add Site or edit an existing Site
  6. Set the Emergency Caller ID to the corresponding DID for that location (this will be used for Callback)
  7. Select the domain default address or click add a new address
  8. If using an existing address, click Add my location description to set a specific location at the address for this site such as a building number or floor number
  9. Enter an Address Name for the specific site address
  10. For Location, enter a descriptive location with the address for where the site is located (this can be changed per user)
  11. For Dial Translation - This needs to be the domain you are creating the site for
  12. For Dial Permission - This will restrict which areas the users are able to dial. "US & Canada" is recommended. See dial permissions KB for additional information. Adding Site in the Manager Portal
  13. Click Save or Add Site

Add Emergency Address to a User

  1. Log in to the Manager Portal
  2. Select the domain you wish to add a site for
  3. Navigate to Users
  4. Click Add User or edit an existing user
  5. Scroll down to Caller ID and set the Emergency Caller ID to the corresponding DID for that location (this will be used for Callback)
  6. Select the domain default address or click add a new address
  7. For new users, click Add User to proceed to setting the location
  8. If using an existing address, click Add my location description to set a specific location at the address for this user such as a building number or floor number
  9. Enter an Address Name for the specific user address
  10. For Location, enter a descriptive location with the address for where the user is located
  11. Click Save

Add Emergency Address to a User

  1. Log in to the Manager Portal
  2. Select the domain you wish to add a site for
  3. Navigate to Users
  4. Select the existing user and navigate to the Phones tab
  5. Click Add Phone or edit an existing Phone
  6. Set the Emergency Caller ID to the corresponding DID for that location (this will be used for Callback)
  7. Select the domain default address or click add a new address
  8. If using an existing address, click Add my location description to set a specific location at the address for this phone such as a building number or floor number
  9. Enter an Address Name for the specific phone address
  10. For Location, enter a descriptive location with the address for where the device is located
  11. Click Save or Add Phone
